I get that the idea of the story is that Superman keeps getting diverted from his primary mission (saving those kids) by other pressing issues along the way, and it was a good, exciting story, but part of me kept thinking, “Superman is not the only super-hero in the world. He has a Justice League communicator. He ought to have been able to call for help from, say, Aquaman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, or others.” I realize it’s Superman’s book and he should be the focus, but it might have helped (and maybe made the tension even higher) if he’d called for help, but everyone else was busy with other major situations. Maybe he did, off-panel, but a thought-balloon showing that he had thought of that could have made the point.
