I liked it. It is more like a comic book adventure than its predecessors, which is not a complaint. Jimmy had more to do here than any other movie. He also looked older then most of the cast, even though he’s the 2nd youngest. Lois not only saved Superman, but also got the story without Superman ever needing to save her.
I prefer Lex to be more cool headed and calculating, which he was at the beginning, but got darker and more intense as the movie progressed. Also, he would have had someone else use the Russian Roulette gun so that he couldn’t be tied to the murder (plus, he abhors violence). And, once again, his plan involves him obtaining land.
Krypto was fun, and, like a real dog, not always helpful. I liked Ma and Pa being alive, and making Pa the softie. The Justice Gang never actually got in the way, or got too much focus, with Mister Terrific being a highlight. Them fighting a monster in the background while Superman and Lois have a conversation was funny. It’s an interesting line-up too, mixing JSA and JLA members. Although, the letters on their chest emblems are clearly JL, which makes the whole Justice Gang argument pointless.
I sort of like how they kept Superman powered down for the whole thing, but I’m curious if they’ll keep doing this in future appearances, or if we’ll eventually get to see him at 100%. Plus, we got to see him use his brain, rather than just fighting, which was fun!
The people turning on him so quickly reminded me of several classic stories and covers from the silver & bronze ages, including the things being thrown at him.
And then there’s the glasses thing. Am I the only one who remembers that after publishing the story in the late 70s, DC ignored it because they didn’t like it, it didn’t fit with past stories (decades of Lois and Lana thinking Clark was Superman), and it had been kind of forced on them? Why in the world would you bring that back? And did Al Schroeder III get any credit for it in the movie, since it was his idea in the first place? Thankfully, it was only barely mentioned, and they didn’t focus on it.
I hope to see it again, not just to enjoy the show, but also to pick out some of the Easter Eggs. Like one of Lex’s people being named Otis, and the credits showing his last name to be Burg. Or that the office that the Hammer of Boravia attacks is an ad agency presenting a pitch for Chocos cookies (Martian Manhunter’s favorite)!

I, too, enjoyed the movie immensely, but, like you, I wish they hadn’t included the “hypno-glasses” bit. I remember thinking, back when that story was originally published, that it really didn’t make a lot of sense and was unnecessary, so I don’t think it really added anything to the movie.
I loved the cast and their work, and, of course, I LOVED Krypto! I also loved the robots in the Fortress, and I’m glad #4 is now Gary.
